A fierce champion for contemporary classical music, Stefani has led groundbreaking commissioning projects such as Life Reflected and Encount3rs, as well as other national and international commissions, driving innovation in orchestral and chamber music. She created the Carrefour Composer Residency, a partnership between NACO and the Canada Council for the Arts, where she mentored emerging composers, guiding their professional career, while helping to create works that contributed to the Canadian canon. As curator of The Wolfgang Sessions, a new music chamber series, Stefani showcased music of the 21st century, believing that today’s music speaks in our vernacular—raw, personal, and profoundly relevant.
Stefani holds two music degrees - a BMus in Flute Performance from the University of Windsor and a BA in Music in Arts Administration from Acadia University. She has served on various juries, including for the JUNO Awards. When not shaping the future of classical music, Stefani is actively engaged in Ottawa’s cultural community. A proud second-generation Italian-Canadian, she serves on the boards of Fogolâr Furlan di Ottawa and Italian Week Ottawa, contributing her experience to celebrate and promote Italian heritage through arts and culture. She also enjoys spending time with her family and her sweet dog, Juno, and is known for her “angel weeping” tiramisù.
